About

I'm Danielle Hood, an artist working at the intersection of earth science and art. A place where geology, abstraction, and visual systems meet. My work draws from scientific models, natural processes, and material exploration to examine how physical laws, stress and strain, and time shape form, structure, and perception.

My practice is rooted in an understanding of earth structure and process. I examine how natural systems respond to force, change, and time, translating those dynamics into images through drawing and painting.

With formal training in geology and art, I approach making through observation, pattern recognition, and interpretive models. My scientific training informs how I see the world — as evolving forms and structures responding to force and the environmental conditions — not simply as subjects to illustrate, but as frameworks for representation and abstraction.

I live and work in Maine.
